The most common translation of Reiki is “source energy”. “Rei” refers to the spiritual dimensions of the soul. “Ki” refers to the vital life force energy that flows within each living being.

Reiki is not a religion. Reiki is an infinite and intelligent energy that relates to the interconnectedness of all life on Earth and in the Universe. Reiki healing is performed through a sense of unconditional love and respect for all living things.

The goal of healing ourselves and working on others is to balance the energy centers in our body so that we can be fully in ourselves and mind-body-spirit alignment.

Reiki is a form of energy healing formalized by Master Mikao Usui (August 15 1865 – March 9 1926) who learned his techniques from Japanese monks and Hindu teachings. He is known as the founder of modern Reiki. Many practitioners (including myself) believe that the cultivating and utilization of what we now know as Reiki originated in India. Reiki healing merges Indian culture into itself with the utilization of the chakra system. There are concepts of energy healing similar to Reiki all over the world, but it is discerned the original practitioner was the Buddha (Gautama Siddhartha).

The main purpose of an attunement is to strengthen your connection to universal life force energy as a channel for Reiki, as well as to raise your overall energetic vibration. You can receive a Reiki attunement by a Reiki Master Teacher.

In Japan this ceremony is called “Reju” which translates to spiritual energy blessing. The ceremony of receiving a Reiki attunement aligns and reconnects you with your higher self. The attunement also clears blockages in your meridian and chakra system to allow the energy to flow freely.

Facilitating attunements helps a person connect deeply to life force energy through their higher self or soul. As a facilitator, a Reiki Master teacher creates a safe space to draw in Reiki energy and create a relaxed state of being to receive an attunement. An attunement opens the door for you, but you must step through the doorway on your own will.

By receiving an attunement or “Reju” you are accepting universal blessings to support your journey of self-responsibility for your spiritual progress.

Energy is an inherent property to our being. Energy is everything, always existing as an exchange, a transfer, an alchemization. The Universe is a constant flow and vibration of energy. WE are energy—universal energy, consciousness, Source. Tapping into the energy of consciousness allows us to access the quantum realm and understand our physical manifestation as different forms of energy in constant flux and flow.

Energy healing has been studied for thousands of years, humans have long been using our consciousness to manipulate energy through modalities such as Reiki, Qigong, meditation, and much more. We are highly intuitive energetic beings with the capability to affect the interconnected energetic flow between all living things just by holding a certain vibration.

When we hold a vibration, such as a thought or a feeling, we attract similar energies to ourselves, following the law of attraction. When we hold the dominant vibration with the intent to heal a person, the person’s physical body will resonate with the dominant vibration that you are holding, and the physical body raises its vibration to become a match to your intention.

As energy healing facilitators we have a responsibility to remain in alignment before and during a healing session. We conduct healing with unconditional presence and with purest intention to channel Source energy with compassion, even when working on ourselves.

There are many benefits to becoming attuned to any degree of Reiki. As a loving, compassionate energy, the vibration of Reiki can have positive affects on health, mental wellbeing, relationships, and more. Some people get attuned to practice Reiki just on themselves and loved ones, some discover they want to become practitioners within their communities, and a small few may decide to eventually take on students of their own.

A Reiki attunement increases your capactiy to hold and transfer Chi. When used properly, Reiki can relieve chronic pain, clear energetic blockages in the body, increase energy levels, release emotional wounding, and even help plants in your garden grow (as this energy connects us to all living things). It all depends on intention and your openness to the Universe supporting you (as we will discuss in class).
